On December 15th, last year, the Federazione Nazionale Maestri del Lavoro (The National Federation of Master Craftsmen and Labor) recognized us for being a virtuous company in the field of workplace safety.
“We are very proud to receive this award, as it represents our commitment to making the workplace a safe place.” said executive director, Massimo Mancini.
We strongly believe that the quality of work and adequate working spaces, go hand in hand and are both essential to a company’s success.
Employers need to make sure that the environment is safe for employees, provide all the necessary information and equipment to work safely, and receiving such an award is proof of that.
Employees, on the other hand, need to be well-trained and aware of the dangers that may lie ahead so that they are able to avoid them.
We have learned over the years that workplace safety must be a common theme among everyone who works or passes through our company doors, from the deliveryman who comes in with his truck to unload material, to the CEO.
For this reason, new rules have been enacted in the company in recent years, and we are constantly vigilant to ensure that they are adhered to by everyone: employees, visitors, contractors, and employers.
To enhance safety, extra safety signs have also been installed, so employees are alerted visually and acoustically of any hazards and will thus be able to avoid them.

We have done a much more intensive risk assessment than that which is required legally. Thereby, we have several safeguards that we put in place to protect the health and safety of our employees.
Finally, we have trained employees on the risks they face. Everyone who enters the company should be aware of the dangers they might face and know all the necessary tools that are provided so that they know what to do in case of an emergency.
What is the Maestri del Lavoro Award?
“The Maestri del Lavoro award is given each year by the National Federation of Master Craftsmen and Labor, with the patronage and support of the Marche Region and municipality. This award is given to companies in the Marche region that have distinguished themselves for having invested in programs geared toward a culture of workplace safety. These companies are also in compliance with regulatory obligations, on the prevention and improvement of safety in the workplace.”

Corporate Awareness and Collaboration for a better workplace safety
We place great emphasis on employee awareness.
We believe that employee training is key to ensuring workplace safety.
If employees are not aware of the procedures to be followed in the workplace, they risk acting in an individual and disconnected manner, thereby creating even worse damage. If everyone respects a shared protocol, they can instead avoid accidents. Unfortunately, accidents are just around the corner as we see daily on local news.
We would like to reiterate that this recognition award could never have been achieved without the cooperation and commitment of our employees.

Where we started to ensure workplace safety
The company has been in the mechanical engineering industry since 1962, and the knowledge that sharing safety issues is essential starting with management right down to the use of PPEs. Through the codification of well-defined and written rules, we are able to avoid any form of exposure to hazards, such as unsuitable clothing, or trinkets hanging on machine tools which, even when shut down can be a likely entanglement and hazard.
Each year the company spends significant sums of money to replace and refurbish the most frequently used equipment that, with its obsolescence, could become a cause of injury.
In the last decade, in particular, a professional person is specifically assigned to analyze the entire technological apparatus so as to detect critical issues, then study and apply continuous improvements in collaboration with the people in charge of running the machinery.
I would like to emphasize the aspect of teamwork because only concrete and fairly sharing of problems lead workers to accept guidelines which sometimes sound like limitations instead of opportunities.
Goals for the future of Workplace Safety
Paying attention to the well-being of workers, never forgetting that it is a work environment, which conceals situations of risk.
The Maestri del lavoro award confirms our ongoing commitment to:
- Listening to personal problems – conducted by the HR manager, to intercept and prevent risky situations, identify difficulties and other activities that can lead to the improvement of the working environment, such as the use of LED lighting (with reduced pollution impact)
- Providing work attire/uniforms with a rental service offering biweekly delivery, pickup, washing, and sanitizing at the company’s expense. We believe that this procedure helps the employee save on utility bills and assures that work attire/uniforms are properly washed and sanitized.
- Constant monitoring of machine tool noise (courses extended to all workers to increasingly improve communication dynamics through Lego Serious Play projects and other innovative methods.
