In recent weeks, Omme Gears had the pleasure of hosting third and fourth-year students from the technical and vocational secondary schools IIS Marconi Pieralisi of Jesi and IIS Cambi Serrani of Falconara Marittima for an educational visit.
An Introduction to the History of Omme Gears
The educational visits were an opportunity for the students to get to know the history of Omme Gears and the developments the company has undergone from 1961 to today, both in internal organization and business lines.
The main objective was to make them understand that the company is a living entity that evolves, changes, faces crises, improves, and achieves new goals, sometimes exceeding expectations.
The Educational Visit to the Workshop: A Journey into the Heart of Production
After an initial overview of the company’s history, the educational visit moved to the workshop, the beating heart of Omme Gears.
Following a path through the various departments, the students had the opportunity to closely observe the different stages of processing the produced parts, from turning to gear cutting, from grinding to milling.
The interest and numerous questions posed by the students made us realize how attractive the world of mechanics and our company are to them.

From Theory to Practice: The Assembly and Testing Area

The educational visit continued in the area dedicated to assembly, testing, and dynamic balancing of the gearboxes.
Here, the students’ participation became even more proactive, seeing in practice how the theory studied at school is applied in a production reality.
This experience allowed them to better understand the connection between theoretical studies and practical applications in the working world.
Meeting the Technical Department: An Instructive Experience
Particularly engaging was the final part of the educational visit, where the students from the technical institutes were able to interact with the Technical Manager and the CAD Designer.
They had the opportunity to see the drawing tools, the project development process, and the practical applications of the studied theory. This experience allowed them to have a concrete vision of how a technical project develops, from the ideation phase to realization.
An Opportunity for Vocational School Students
For the vocational school students, the educational visit was equally significant. They were able to observe the CNC machine operators at work and interact with the maintenance workers of Omme Gears, roles they themselves might fill in the near future. This experience gave them a clear vision of possible careers in the mechanical sector and the skills needed to excel.
A Lively and Curious Interest: Students’ Questions
The interest and curiosity shown by the students during the educational visit were particularly evident.
In every department visited, the students asked in-depth and specific questions, demonstrating not only a desire to better understand the production processes but also a genuine passion for the mechanical sector.
The questions covered various aspects of our work, such as the technologies used, the materials employed, daily challenges, and recent innovations.
This enthusiasm made the educational visit interactive and stimulating for both the students and us, confirming how fascinating and full of opportunities the world of mechanics can be for future generations.

Conclusions: A Strong Bond with the Territory
For us at Omme Gears, it is essential to be present in the territory and to make our company known to the young generations of technical and vocational institutes. This commitment not only makes our territory more attractive but also offers the students a concrete vision of the working world beyond school life.
We are proud to have had the opportunity to inspire these young students and hope that their educational visit has ignited in them a passion for the world of mechanics and industrial production even stronger than what they have already developed during their school journey.
